Visit some of the South Ethiopia tribes and Omo Valley, a Unesco cultural World Heritage site where over a dozen distinctive ethnic groups exist, many of whom live lives little touched by the modern world. Accompagnied by an expert local guide you will spend time with the Dorze, Konso, Arbore, Hamar, Benna, Karo, Ari and Mursi tribes and we will also encounter other tribes when visiting market villages.

Half day city tour of Addis Ababa (PVT)
After some rest you will take a half day city tour of Addis Ababa including a drive to Mount Entoto for the panoramic view and old palace, National Museum which is the resting place of our famous Lucy, Ethnological Museum which is the cultural collection place, Trinity Cathedral and Merkato.

Internal flight Addis Ababa – Arba Minch
Visit Dorze Tribe (PVT)
Afternoon you will be transferred to Chencha to see the Dorze people and their villages. They are famous for their cotton woven cloths and beehive huts. Their houses resemble huge beehives of bamboo bees and can be moved from one place to another if they are attacked by termites. Although they seem very unstable, huts can last even 60 years. Ethnic Dorze cultivates cotton, which the women torch, and men are weaving the threads, producing traditional clothes painted in vivid colors.
Admire the Lake Abaya (PVT)
On your way back to the hotel, you will stop to admire the wonderful view of Lake Abaya, Ethiopia’s second-largest lake.

Transfer Arba Minch – Turmi (PVT)
You will be transferred from Arba Minch to Turmi, visiting the Tsemay, Konso tribes in the way. And as today is Monday or Tuesday we will see the colorful market of Dimeka at Turmi that gives a chance to see many tribes together exchanging goods. If you are lucky you will see the bull jumping ceremony of the Hamer tribes.

Visit Tsemay Tribe
The Tsamay people are agro-pastoralists, herding cattle as well as growing crops. Many Tsamay women wear clothing made from leather and Tsamay men carry small stools around with them, which they use in case they need to sit down.
Visit Konso Tribe
You will visit the village of the Konso tribe, where you will meet the locals and observe their lifestyle. The Konso tribe carve wooden totems which are placed on graves. Also one of the curiosities of the Konso culture is the growing and worship of snakes. Although living in a hilly region with unpalatable land, locals are able to capitalize on the terrain by getting surprising agricultural produce.

Day trip excursion to Omorate (PVT)
This morning you will rise early and drive to the edge of the Omo River. You will cross the river by canoe to the villages of the Dasanech tribes (a motor boat or a ferry maybe available but is not guaranteed). Afternoon visit the Dimeka market and after the market, if you are lucky you will see the bull Jumping ceremony around Turmi.
Visit Dasanech Tribes
The Dasanech are a semi-nomadic tribe numbering approximately 50,000 people. Their clans stretch across Sudan, Kenya and Southern Ethiopia. There are faimos for their very unique way to ornate hair buns.
Visit Dimeka Market
A visit to Dimeka Market will be a good opportunity to see many tribes together exchanging goods as it has a great crafts section, with jewellery, woodcarvings, masks and pottery.

Transfer Turmi – Jinka (PVT)
Today at 7:00 you will leave your lodge and we’re going to Murulle to meet with the tribe Karo, whose members are known for their adorn bodies with the various patterns and scars. Along the way to Jinka, you can see the decorated tribal Benna, Ari and their village.
Transfer time: Turmi – Karo: 3 hours (120 km)
Visit Karo Tribe
Karo tribe is famous for their body painting. They decorate their bodies in an elaborate way with locally found white chalk, yellow mineral rock, iron ore and charcoal. For beauty reasons women also cuts on their chests, stomachs, or backs to produce intricate patterns of scars.
Visit Jinka Museum
In the afternoon you will visit Jinka Museum which contains many collected objects and information about cultural practices from each tribe from Omo Valley and around 16:00pm you will be driven to the hotel.

Transfer Jinka – Konso (PVT)
You will be transferred from Jinka to Konso, visiting on the way Mago National Park and Keyafer Market.
Transfer time Jinka – Konso: 6 hours (250 km)
Visit Mursi Tribe in Mago National Park
Morning at 7:00 proceed to Mago National Park where you will meet the Mursi tribe. Women have taken Mursi inserted into the lower lip plate, and men inflict a scar on the forearm by the number of killed enemies or wild animals.
Visit Keyafer Market
If today is Thursday, you will visit one of the best market in the Omo Valley at Keyafer Market. Members of different tribes come here to buy and sell from fruits and vegetables, to silverware and animals.

Transfer Konso – Arba Minch (PVT)
Morning after breakfast we will visit the UNESCO Cultural site of Konso and drive to Arba Minch.
Visit UNESCO Cultural Site of Konso
Konso Cultural Landscape is a 55km arid properties of stone walled terraces and fortified settlements in the Konso highlands of Ethiopia.
Take a boat excursion on Lake Chamo (SIC)
Proceed to Lake Chamo for a boat excursion to see the Crocodile Market and the hippos. (Here crocodiles are some of the longest in Africa, with length of 8 and also above meters).
