Itinerary

Day 1Arrival Lima

Transfer airport – hotel in Lima (PVT)
Upon arrival into Lima International Airport, you will be met by our representative and private driver and will be transferred to the selected hotel. Our representative will assist you with check-in procedures and provide you with a detailed itinerary, vouchers covering all the services included in your tour and additional information on the organization of your Peru trip. You will also receive a contact information sheet with all the hotel details as well as our offices contact information for each city and a 24-hour emergency number.

Day 2Lima

Half day private tour Colonial & Modern Lima (PVT)
Enjoy a half day guided sightseeing tour to the most attractive and important sites in Lima, the “City of Kings”. The tour includes Lima’s Historical Center, passing by Plaza San Martin, Plaza Mayor, the Government Palace, the City Hall, the Cathedral and its Religious Art Museum. Finally visit the residential Districts of San Isidro and Miraflores, passing by the Huaca Pucllana, a Ceremonial and Administrative Centre of the Lima Culture built in the II Century A.C. that the Incas considered as “Ñaupallaqta” or Sacred Town. Also, visit El Olivar Park with olive trees brought from Spain in the XVth Century, the Central Park of Miraflores and Larcomar, a symbol of modern Lima and a tourist and entertainment centre as well as a privileged site to enjoy an amazing view of the Pacific Ocean.

Day 3Lima - Arequipa

At the appropriate time, transfer to the Lima airport to board your flight to the city of Arequipa.

Upon your arrival to Arequipa’s airport you will be met by our representative who will assist you with your luggage and drive you to the hotel for your check-in.

City tour in Arequipa (PVT)
In the afternoon you will do a city tour of Arequipa including the Main Square, one of the most beautiful squares in Peru and the Cathedral, a prime example of XIXth Century Peruvian architecture housing beautiful treasures in gold and silver. We also visit the La Compañia Church, an ancient Jesuit temple, maybe the most important one in Arequipa due to its history and tradition.

Visit to Santa Catalina Convent (PVT)
Then, you will visit the Santa Catalina Convent a “Small Town” built in the XVIIth Century and opened to the public in 1970, after 400 years as a cloister. Perfectly preserved for four centuries, you go back in time as you enter the cloister and see the numerous, spacious patios and gardens, the kitchen and slave quarters and stone washtubs. About 20 nuns, of what were once 500, still live in a section of this Convent. After the city tour you will return to your hotel.

Day 4Arequipa - Colca

Transfer Arequipa – Colca (PVT)
Early in the morning, depart on a wonderful four-hour journey to the Colca Canyon, one of the deepest canyons in the world (3400 mts.). On the trip, we drive across Pampa Cañahuas in the Aguada Blanca National Reserve, inhabited by herds of Vicuñas and Alpacas (South American cameloids). We also see beautiful pre-Columbian terraces, still being cultivated by the native Collaguas. On your arrival at Colca Valley, transfer to your hotel.

Day 5Colca Valley - Condor Cross - Puno

Transfer Colca Valley – Condor Cross (PVT)
Very early in the morning, drive to the observation point “Cruz del Condor”. While this is not the deepest point of the Colca Canyon, from “Cruz del Condor” you can appreciate the grandeur of the canyon and with a bit of luck you might spot Andean condors, the largest flying bird in the world, soaring across the high plain. On the way back, visit the towns of Maca at the base of the volcano Sabancaya and then Yanque. The church of Yanque with its baroque façade is testimony to the cultural symbiosis in the colonial era.

Condor Cross – Puno (PVT)
Continue private transportation to Puno, approximately travelling a total of 4 hours (332 kms / 221.33 miles). Beautiful landscapes along the way, corresponding to high altitude ecosystems. Puno sits on the banks of Lake Titicaca – the highest navigable lake in the world. This region is the birthplace of Inca Mythology; according to the legend, Manco Capac and Mama Ocllo emerged from the sacred Lake Titicaca to found the Inca Empire and give birth to Inca civilization.

Day 6Puno - Lake Titicaca - Puno

Full day tour Uros & Taquile Islands (PVT)
Early in the morning, you will have an unforgettable motorboat excursion on the waters of Lake Titicaca to the unique “Floating Islands” of the Uros. These ancient inhabitants of the Lake, known as the Water Tribe, have built their own “Islands” by periodically adding new layers of a type of reed unique to the area called “Totora” (Scirpus totora), vegetable fiber of the Papyrus family. We continue our motorboat trip to Taquile Island, inhabited by Quechua-speaking natives who have developed efficient and unique social systems, as well as fine hand weaving techniques, passed down through the generations.
In Taquile you will walk through the various hills and archaeological sites of this 6-km long Island. After this tour you will return to Puno for overnight.

Day 7Puno - Cusco

Transfer Puno – Cusco (PVT)
During the trip you will have some stops on the way. You will pass by the lovely Wacarpay Lake, offering spectacular views of the mountains reflected in its calm waters. Then proceed to the beautiful Town of Andahuaylillas, and visit the Church of San Pedro de Andahuaylillas, better known as the Sistine Chapel of the Americas, due to its decorated polychrome ceiling. About 70 kms further on, pass through La Raya Ranch where you will be able to see herds of vicuñas and llamas. Then travel along the High Plateau of Collao, passing through the Town of Ayaviri, an important livestock and textile Centre, to visit the impressive Temple of Kalasaya, ruins from the ancient Pucara Culture.

Lunch will be served at a quiet countryside restaurant, where you will enjoy the delightful culinary art of the region.

Day 8Cusco

Half Day Agrotourism in Chichubamba community – Activities included (SIC)
Today you will be part of an extraordinary activity at Chichubamba community. This community is located close to Urubamba city, with approximately 180 families. Chichubamba has been blessed with a great and healthy climate, surrounded by green countryside most of it being farmlands. Agriculture and livestock activity are the main source of incomes, which are complemented with Guinea pig breeding, beekeeping or maintenance of honey bee colonies, handicraft making such as ceramics, coffee, and chocolate handmade production.
Upon arrival, to the community, you will be welcomed and introduced to the villages. Soon after you will be split into the group for the different workshops such as:
Ceramics: learn the process and steps to make traditional pottery with Andean icons
Chocolate: home-made chocolate to drink, and chocolate tasting with a mix of chestnuts, walnuts, peanuts, among others.
Apiculture: process and bee breeding steps, honey extraction
Jora Chicha making (corn beer): Jora Chicha making with the authentic Urubamba and Sacred Valley recipe.
Here you will participate and learn from those activities and experiences.

City tour Cusco and San Pedro Market (PVT)
In the afternoon you will go on a guided private visit of the Imperial City of Cusco, where we will visit the Main Plaza, which has been the scene of great historical events in Cusco; and the Cathedral, constructed of great slabs of red granite in the renaissance style, and thus contrasting with the baroque style silverwork which decorates the interior.
Continue on to the Santo Domingo church, built upon the foundations of the Inca temple Koricancha, which was dedicated to Sun worship.
The tour continues with a visit to the San Pedro Market, a typical Mercado, and a popular place for locals to eat a hot meal or fresh juice. They offer almost all the regional produce from fruits, vegetables and meats to hand-woven sweaters other clothes and crafts.
After the tour you will be driven back to your hotel.

Day 9Cusco - Sacred Valley

Full day private excursion Sacred Valley (PVT)
En route towards the Urubamba Valley, visit Awanacancha, an Andean textile center whose principal objective is to maintain the wealth of Incan textile art alive.
Here you we will learn about the dyeing techniques and instruments used for hundreds of years in the weaving of these famous textiles. Following this, visit the Pisac archeological complex, formed by a collection of remains of Incan dwellings, temples, and terracing, all of which combine perfectly with the majestic landscape of the Sacred Valley of the Incas.
Continue on to the Pisac Markets where you will have the chance to interact with the local folk and even barter with the merchants.

Visit Ollantaytambo Fortress (PVT)
End the day with a visit to the Incan fortress and citadel of Ollantaytambo.
This fortress was constructed in order to guard the entrance to this part of the valley and protect it from possible invasions of tribes from the jungle lowlands, and was later the scene of Incan resistance in 1537, when Manco Inca’s forces faced Hernando Pizarro’s troops. After the tour you will be driven back to your hotel.

Day 10Sacred Valley - Machu Picchu - Aguas Calientes

Transfer to the train station & Voyager Train to Aguas Calientes
Morning transfer to the train station for an amazing train journey to the famous Inca Citadel of Machu Picchu, the great mountain-top city abandoned by the Inca Empire, reclaimed by the jungle and lost to humanity until its rediscovery in 1911. Along the way you will enjoy the changing landscape as you travel from Andean highlands to the beginnings of the jungle (“eyebrow of the jungle”), before finally arriving at the town of Aguas Calientes.

Visit to Machu Picchu
From here we will board the bus that will take you on a 20 minute ride up to the citadel of Machu Picchu, or Lost City of the Incas, which sits upon the summit bearing the same name, and is one of the most representative and recognized examples of Incan architecture. A guided tour of the Citadel includes the Main Plaza, the Circular Tower, the Sacred Sun Dial, the Royal Quarters, the Temple of the Three Windows and various burial grounds.
In the afternoon return to Aguas Calientes town.

Day 11Aguas Calientes - Cusco

Voyager Train back to Cusco & Private Transfer to hotel
The morning will be free for you to explore the little town of Aguas Calientes. In the afternoon you will return to Cusco by train and upon arrival at the train station in Poroy you will be met by our representative and you will be transfered to the hotel in Cusco.
