The old red rock, known as Uluru, has always been a sacred place for the ananguine aborigines. The name Uluru comes from the Uluritdja tribe who lived here. This name means a place in the shadow; the explanation being probably related to the southern part of the monolith, rarely exposed to the sun’s rays.
Kakadu National Park is made up of three major areas: a stony one, an area with plain forests and a swampy region situated on the shoreline. The park stretches over an area of 20,000 km². The park includes the South Alligator River drainage basin, and the diversity of the ecosystem here is enormous, including over 290 bird species, 26 Batracian species, 74 reptile species, 68 mammalian species, 10,000 insect species.
Famous for its warm and enjoyable weather, Queensland offers tourists the opportunity to explore the coast, from the vibrant Gold Coast, full of life, to the tropics, near the Great Barrier Reef. This region hosts both the Daintree National Park tropical forests and the Whitsundays islands.
